          Inspired by GG (http://geekgardener.in) and couple of others out there, I decided to get my hands dirty and grow some plants in the small yard that I have in front of the house. In 2011, few ornamental plants were planted. Since the soil was clay based, I decided to add couple of bags of compost and ready made soil amendments to the ground. I also went ahead and added chicken manure and steer manure.
